Seek Peace

Based in the UK, John and Kay Hodge run a ministry called Seek Peace. Seek Peace partners with churches and Christian missions in regions experiencing conflict to plan, deliver and reflect on the impact of their peacebuilding and reconciliation work. Their partnerships extend to multiple countries including the UK, Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, and more recently Lebanon.

They are passionate about the Church and believe that it's been given a mandate to act as a catalyst for peace and reconciliation in every community.

Seek Peave support their partners to achieve this by providing consultancy support, targeted training and by releasing strategic funding for them to invest in what it will take for them to manage their work in a faith-motivated, evidence-led way.

Challenges and Testimonies

In 2024 Seek Peace commenced a partnership with Al Shabiba Risala and the Play for Peace project, based in Bourj Hammoud, Beirut, Lebanon, after much prayer and seeking the Lord. Not long after this, the region was heavily impacted by war. Through God's stirring and provision, Seek Peace were able to send over $20,000 AUD to support their partners with their emergency response in the Bourj Hammoud community. Al Shabiba Risala have been actively hosting people in their new Peace Centre, providing essential services, educational support for children, community meals, and more. Seek Peace continues to equip and support them at this volatile time, to share the heart of the gospel and the theology of reconciliation.

In addition, Seek Peace sensed God moving them to bring on a new staff member to develop and grow their work in West Africa. God, through his timing, brought them an ideal new team member, Agbo Boniface, who is a highly skilled man of peace and integrity, to join the team. While praying about this, God in His perfect timing, released the finances to cover his salary, through someone being directly stirred to make a substantial gift to Seek Peace. John is currently in Nigeria onboarding Agbo and working with the Computer Centres and CRUDAN teams.

Next 12 months

In 2025, Seek Peace will continue working with their five partners: the seven KCT Centres in Jos Nigeria, CRUDAN and the Church Transformation programme across Nigeria, Al Shabiba Risala and the Play for Peace project in Bourj Hammoud, CHIPS and the Brixton youth groups and the Ghanaian shared economies project in Nakpayili, and Reimagining New Communities and the Faith for Peace project, with church leaders throughout urban Kenyan churches. Their prayer is that Seek Peace grows to be part of equipping and supporting the local church and local missions in volatile regions to share the heart of the gospel and the theology of reconciliation – for this is what Jesus accomplished for us on the cross and emboldens us to do for others.
